The Arboretum (dendrological collection) occupies the central part of the Garden; covering an area of 1.5 ha it is composed of 230 specimens of woody plants from almost all over the world. Grown in order to maintain their natural behavior, plants are disposed according to the place of origin, as an imaginary world map. The diversity and abundance of trees’ and shrubs’ species of different shapes and colors offers the visitor a unique experience, cultural and enjoyable at the same time.

The characteristic species of the European continent, in the central part of the Arboretum, mainly belong to the genera Acer L., Alnus Mill., Quercus L., Sorbus Medik., Viburnum L., as well as Pinus L., Abies Lam., Picea A.Dietr., Taxus L., Juniperus L. and others. Many are the species rare in nature, as the case of Abiesnebrodensis (Lojac.) Mattei, species endemic to Sicily (Park of the Madonie), included in the list of the 50 most endangered plant species in the Mediterranean.
