The Arboretum (dendrological collection) occupies the central part of the Garden; covering an area of 1.5 ha it is composed of 230 specimens of woody plants from almost all over the world. Grown in order to maintain their natural behavior, plants are disposed according to the place of origin, as an imaginary world map. The diversity and abundance of trees’ and shrubs’ species of different shapes and colors offers the visitor a unique experience, cultural and enjoyable at the same time.
Among the South American species are present the Chilean pine or monkey tail tree (Araucaria araucana Kock), the pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana (Schult. et Schult.) Asch. Graebn), the Schinus molle L., known as California pepper and pink pepper, the coral-tree (Erythrina crista-galli L.), the Devil’s tree (Solanum torvum Sw.) and the fejoa (Acca sellowiana (O.Berg) Burret).
